In-Depth: A Look at East Haven's Projected Tax Rate for Next Year

Joe Maturo says that 6,200 of the 10,000 houses in town are paying $374 less in taxes since he returned to office in 2011.

On Monday night Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr. unveiled his $89 million proposed budget for fiscal 2015-16, which will reduce the tax rate for residents.

Often the best way to decipher what that actually means is taking the property taxes of existing houses to determine what your savings may be.

In the present fiscal year, the mill rate was set at 32.05. As a result, over 6,200 of the 10,000 homes in Town continued to pay $374 less (on average) in taxes than they were paying prior to Maturo resuming office in 2011, according to Maturo’s budget presentation.
