DMV’s Hamden Vehicle Inspection Lane Reopens

After being closed for a year for renovations and improvements, the inspection lane at the Department of Motor Vehicles' Hamden branch is once again open for business.

The vehicle inspection lane at the Department of Motor Vehicles’ Hamden branch office will reopen Friday, Dec. 9, following renovations to the building and parking lot area.

in late 2010 while the lane was repaired and the Hamden branch office underwent a renovation to meet required building, fire and disability laws. The lane repairs related to brake inspection equipment.

Inspections performed at DMV include vehicle identification number (VIN) verifications, reconstructed vehicles, salvages, warning ticket follow-ups, window tint level, imported vehicles with non-U.S. standards, wreckers, homemade trailers, ambulances, service buses and taxis.

“We’re pleased to be able to bring inspection lane service back to the southern part of the state,” DMV Commissioner Melody A. Currey said. 

The Hamden inspection lane, located at 1985 State Street, will be open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Customers may also visit the inspection lane at DMV’s Wethersfield office on 60 State Street.  The Wethersfield inspection lane is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
