'Dragon Dance' Delights Deer Run School
Deer Run School second grade teachers, with help from many of the school's students, recently held a "Dragon Dance" to celebrate the Chinese New Year: The Year of the Dragon.
Recently Deer Run School second grade teachers held a "Dragon Dance" to celebrate the Chinese New Year: The Year of the Dragon.
And Catherine McGarry, an art teacher, has shared her photo slide show of the artwork the students created with East Haven Patch readers.
The Deer Run second grade teachers involved in the project are: Lisa Brown, the creator of the Dragon, Renee McIntyer and Cheryl King.

In addition, kindergarten students created the dragon scrolls hung in their hallway, first grade students created the Chinese Lanterns, and the second grade students created masks and the "good luck" symbol Chinese lanterns and dragon drawings.
"As you will see from viewing the show, kindergarten students are also wearing their Chinese character headbands as they watch the dance go through the hallways of the school," McGarry said of her show.
