Driver Under Influence Strikes Police Cruiser In East Haven: PD
The driver accused of striking the cruiser early Friday morning has been identified as 32-year-old Thomas A. Larivee of East Lyme.

EAST HAVEN, CT — A state police cruiser was struck by an intoxicated driver early Friday morning in East Haven, Connecticut State Police said in a news release.
According to an arrest report, the driver accused of striking the cruiser has been identified as 32-year-old Thomas A. Larivee of East Lyme.
The crash occurred at around 12:32 a.m., when troopers and the cruiser were in the right lane of three just before the Exit 52 entrance ramp on Interstate 95, parked behind a disabled vehicle as they provided help to its driver, the report said.

Larivee was driving by in his 2021 Volkswagen Atlas when his vehicle struck the back of the state police cruiser, police said.
Police described Larivee as showing signs of impairment and placed him under arrest, charging him with driving under the influence and following too closely resulting in a motor vehicle accident, according to the report.

He was released on a $500 bond and he is scheduled to appear at New Haven Superior Court on April 13.
