In celebration of Earth Day, the fourth through eighth grade classes, at St. Vincent de Paul School, completed a perimeter hike of the entire Lighthouse Point Park property. As part of their Science and Social Studies curriculum students they observed the wide variety of ecosystems that are present in the park. They covered woodland, rocky and sandy beaches, and fresh and salt water marshes. They also heard discussions of the history of the 5 Mile Point lighthouse and the 1779 invasion of New Haven.
