East Haven Farmers Market Returns To Town Green June 12

EAST HAVEN, CT —The East Haven Farmers Market is set to open its 2022 season on Sunday, June 12th. The rain or shine market on the Town Green operates Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to noon. However, if the market is canceled, it will be posted on the town’s social media accounts and website.

Farmers markets are an integral part of the urban/farm linkage and have continued to rise in popularity, mostly due to the growing consumer interest in obtaining fresh products directly from the farm, the town noted in a news release.

“Our farmers market is a great place to meet up with neighbors, support our local farmers and purchase seasonal produce. Farmers depend on the community to purchase their produce," East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora said. "The market continues to grow each season, and that is thanks to the residents and those who visit from our neighboring town’s continued support.”

The East Haven Farmers Market allows consumers to have access to locally grown, farm fresh produce.

"The number of new vendors and variety of offerings have increased over the seasons. Our goal is to provide affordable, fresh, local and healthy foods to our residents,” market manager Michelle Benivegna said.

"Our town has many community partners who support the market," she added.

Fee yoga is offered on Sundays at 9 a.m. on the Green. The market has also partnered with the Shoreline Garden Club this season.

"Together we will be offering different planting activities for our residents throughout the market season," Benivegna said. "On our opening day, the garden club will be there, offering an opportunity for residents to plant herbs in pots that they can decorate. The market will be providing free market shopping bags also on opening day."
