East Haven Fire Welcomes Mason Hallstrom As Newest Firefighter/Paramedic

His brother is also a firefighter/paramedic, and his father is a New Haven police officer.

EAST HAVEN, CT — The East Haven Fire Department welcomed Mason Hallstrom to its ranks Thursday as its newest firefighter/paramedic, Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli said.

Hallstrom is set to start the Connecticut Fire Academy Recruit Training Program on Monday.

Upon successful completion of his training, Hallstrom will be assigned a shift and continue training to obtain his medical authorization to work as a paramedic, Marcarelli said.

Hallstrom is the brother of Eric Hallstrom, also a firefighter/paramedic and SWAT medic. He is the son of New Haven Police Officer Eric Hallstrom.

Marcarelli said the department expects "great things" from the firefighter and for him to "uphold the highest expectations of the East Haven Fire Department."
