EAST HAVEN, CT — After an extensive search to replace longtime East Haven Tax Collector Lucille Huelin, Mayor Joseph Carfora announced he's hired Anna DelRosso to fill the position.

DelRosso, who worked for the town of Branford for 12 years, six as assistant tax collector, holds Connecticut Municipal Collector certification.

According to a media release from Carfora, the search for a new tax collector began "months ago" after Huelin announced her plan to retire. Though this position is not hired through the civil service department, the town "relied on the civil service director and her extensive and diverse job advertising capabilities to advertise this opening." The ads brought 50 potential job seekers. The town's Assistant Director of Administration and Management and Huelin reviewed the applicants and then interviewed a number, bringing the final five candidates to Carfora.

“The process to select Anna DelRosso was thorough. Utilizing our civil service assets, we were assured that we received broad and diverse advertisement. I was pleased with the pool of applicants and frankly Anna’s overall experience won the day," Carfora said. "I am also very appreciative that Lucille was part of the interview and selection process, since no one knows the requirements of the job better than she does.”

Huelin served East Haven for 32 years in various roles, most recently as Tax Collector since 2016. She officially retires Oct. 2.
