More details have been shared regarding Dejon Knight, 16, and his appearance in a high school basketball game.

UPDATE: Last month we shared with you an amazing and inspirational story out of East Haven involving East Haven High School student Dejon Knight, 16.

Knight, 16, who has cerebral palsy, was told by the freshman basketball coach, Frank Lyon, to suit up for a game on Feb. 24, and not ot only did Knight get in the game, he scored a basket, reported WFSB 3 TV at the time.

The Hollywood ending included his teammates hoisting up on their shoulders after the victory and students in the stands gave Knight a heroes sendoff, reports WFSB 3 TV.

Knight told WFSB 3 TV that he used to be bullied when he lived elsewhere but he has been welcomed with open arms in East Haven and at East Haven High School.

This past weekend, the New Haven Register’s Esteban L. Hernandez went in-depth and profiled Knight’s amazing story. Read his story here.

Knight was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of 2. The Register reports that Knight’s game appearance was in the works for some time.

Everyone knew Knight would get in the game except him, which is why the stands were full. Lyon played him the last two minutes of the game, and Knight went 1-7 from the field, but the only thing people will remember is the basket he made and the celebration that ensued.
