East Haven Lawmaker Meets President Obama
State Rep. Roland Lemar, who represents portions of East Haven was invited to the White House recently.

State Representative Roland Lemar (D- New Haven, East Haven) was invited to the White House to discuss policy initiatives with senior White House advisors and President Barack Obama.
About 40 legislators from across the country were invited to take part in the State Legislator Briefing, which will focus on economic security, criminal justice reform, climate change, transportation, health care, and economic mobility.
“Partisanship in Congress had led to legislative gridlock at the expense of the American people. While our Congress refuses to cooperate and address our nation’s problems, state action has becoming increasingly important. When Congress would not act, the Connecticut legislature voted to increase the minimum wage, invest in transportation, establish an implementation plan for paid family and medical leave, regulate student loan servicers, and adopt commonsense gun reform,” said Rep. Lemar.
