East Haven Man, 19, Dies in Interstate 95 Accident: UPDATE
The accident occurred in Old Lyme early Wednesday. He was a member of the WCSU baseball team.

Michael DeAngelo, 19, of 71 Massachusetts Avenue in East Haven died after an early morning one-vehicle accident on Interstate 95 in Old Lyme near Exit 70, State Police said.
The Connecticut Post reports that Deangelo was a freshman on the Western Connecticut State University baseball team.
State Police said at 12:57 a.m. Troop F officers responded to Interstate 95 northbound near Exit 70 off-ramp for the one-car motor vehicle accident.

DeAngelo, who was driving a 2003 Lexus, was traveling northbound in the right lane and for an “unknown reason” veered off the roadway to the right, and spun off into the right shoulder. His vehicle then hit a wooden sound barrier wall, State Police said in a news release Wednesday morning.
He was found in the driver’s seat and pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is under investigation.
“This news spread pretty quickly because he lived on campus and because he is on the baseball team,” said Paul Steinmetz, WCSU’s spokesman, via the Connecticut Post. “We have set up our counseling services for anyone who requests it.”
DeAngelo, who was nicked "Diesel" at East Haven High School, was a sports star there as he served as captain of the football, baseball and basketball teams his senior year, Game Time CT reports.
