East Haven Man Sold Drugs Out Of Business In North Haven: Police

NORTH HAVEN, CT — An East Haven man is accused of selling illegal drugs out of his business in North Haven, according to police.

North Haven detectives executed a search-and-seizure warrant at Safer Vaporz at 342 State Street in North Haven on Aug. 6, according to police.

Police said detectives believed the owner, 61-year-old Barry Snyder of East Haven, was selling “mushrooms (psilocybin), loose leaf marijuana, marijuana edibles, and other contraband from the store.”

“A large quantity of drugs, packaged for sale, was found in the store,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Nearly 100 packages of various edibles were located with THC contents well above the legally allowed dosage of 1 milligram per serving/5 milligrams per container. The edibles seized during the execution of the search warrant ranged up to 50 milligrams per serving and 500 milligrams per container. Multiple times above permitted limits.”

Snyder was arrested at the store and charged with illegal sale of prescription drugs, operation of a drug factory, illegal possession with intent to sell marijuana, and illegal possession with intent to sell hallucinogens.

Snyder was released after posting bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 15, according to police.

“Additionally, Safer Vaporz has been referred to the Department of Consumer Protection, who accompanied detectives on scene, to evaluate their business license moving forward,” police wrote. “Strong work by all involved!”
