East Haven Mayor Joe Maturo Jr. Issues Statement on Mayoral Election

On Friday, a candidate officially declared he plans to challenge Maturo for the GOP mayoral nomination.

With regard to the November 3rd Election in East Haven, Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr. released the following statement:

“I welcome all into the race for Mayor of our community, which has much to be proud of thanks to our efforts since 2011.

Since 2011, we’ve run three straight budget surpluses and reduced the Town’s debt by $20 million dollars. The upcoming budget includes the largest tax decrease in a non-revaluation year since 1989. We have a police department that is on the forefront of the law enforcement industry.

Since 2011, we’ve restored fiscal responsibility and pride to the Mayor’s office. Despite what other candidates may claim, East Haven continues to be the shining star of the shoreline.
