East Haven Names Acting Schools Superintendent

EAST HAVEN, CT – Assistant Superintendent of Schools Erica Forti has been appointed Acting Superintendent of Schools for the next 90 days while the Board of Education searches for a new boss to head the town’s educational system.

School Superintendent Dr. Portia Bonner’s last day on the job was June 30th. Her contact was not extended by the school board.

Ironically, when Bonner was hired in July of 2013 to replace a retiring Anthony Serio, Forti was considered a leading applicant to fill the schools’ boss role.

But she declined to take the position at that time.

School board members have said they plan to have a new, full-time superintendent in place by the time school opens this September.
