East Haven Picking Up The Pieces After Violent Storm
With the newly rebuilt field at East Haven High School hammered, like much of the town, mayor, workers and residents cleanup the community.

EAST HAVEN, CT — After a no-name storm that brought violent weather including microbursts from a nearby tornado, East Haven has been working around the clock to clean-up.
"The residents of this town always come together during a crisis," Mayor Joseph A. Carfora said. "And we will again."
Carfora toured the damage and was on scene with public works crews over the course of the storm and in its aftermath as evidenced by his social media posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

“Our DPW is unbelievable and never ceases to amaze me, especially under these conditions. They work for the safety of our residents and quickly. We’ve received lots of positive feedback and I’m happy my guys are seeing the positivity, a reflection of their work, from the community,” Charlie Coyle, Department of Public Services Superintendent of Operations said.
Carfora was also joined by Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz, U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, CT National Guard Major General Fran Evon, and other officials Friday in the initial aftermath.

Carfora said that he and federal and state officials surveyed heavy-hit areas of town and "talked about the cleanup process and keeping East Haven residents safe."
Yesterday, I surveyed storm damage in North Haven, East Haven and Hamden — three towns that were hit hard by Thursday’s weather — with state and local leaders. This storm left many without power, and brought down many trees and power lines. pic.twitter.com/EycpUPAMGu

Just yesterday, I witnessed people helping people. People in the community came together to help clear storm damage from an East Haven Resident’s home. It was definitely an East Haven Proud moment. I’m proud of our community, our residents and our hardworking town workers,” Carfora told Patch.
“I want to thank from the bottom of my heart, the work of our EHFD, EHPD, National Guard, DPW and our community.”
