East Haven Police Awards Ceremony, Swearing-In Held Wednesday
Awards included Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, Medal of Merit, Dedicated Service Medal, Commendation Medal, Unit Citation, Chief Recognition.

EAST HAVEN, CT —The East Haven Police Department held a swearing in, and promotional and awards ceremony Wednesday.
Three new officers were hired and sworn in: lateral Officer Joseph Dinatale, and two recruit officers, Tristan Goodwin and Brayan Lucero.
Emily Higgins was sworn in as the new Animal Control Officer.

Jonathan Trinh, Raymond Wilson, and Frederick Sego were promoted to the rank of Detective.
Joseph Carangelo and Molly Perry were promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Joseph Finoia was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.

There were also numerous awards conferred to officers including the Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, Medal of Merit, Dedicated Service Medal, Commendation Medal, Unit Citation and Chief’s Letter of Recognition.
Tow Medals of Honor were given to Lieutenant Kevin Klarman and Detective Fred Sego who were involved in the active shooter incident that occurred in Branford in April 2021.
A Purple Heart was awarded to retired Sergeant Anthony Rybaruk, who was injured in the explosion in North Haven in May 2018.
A Dedicated Service Medal was awarded to retired Lieutenant Frank Montagna after more than 26 years of service to the Department and Town.
Several Medals of Merit were awarded to Lieutenant Joseph Finoia, Retired Sergeant Craig Michalowski, Sergeant Joseph Mulhern, Sergeant Joseph Carangelo, Sergeant Jeffrey Vailette, K9 Officer Donato Palma, Officer Luke Rasile, Officer Ryan Michalowski, and Officer Dean Bibens as well as Unit Citations and Letters of Recognition to numerous officers of the Department.
Lieutenant Justin Brochu was recognized for his hard work and dedication to the East Haven Police Athletic League.
The East Haven Police Department continues to promote highly trained, highly qualified officers to supervise and lead the Department.
