East Haven Police Detective's Gun Accidentally Discharged: Report

The officer was cleaning her gun when it went off and a bullet struck a neighbor's window.

East Haven police say they are investigating after Det. Shirley Conyers’s gun accidently went off in her home when she was cleaning her firearm on Sept. 24, the New Haven Register reports.

A bullet from Conyer’s gun struck a neighbor’s window, but no one was injured, the Register reports.

The neighbor told the Register they don’t plan to press charges.

East Haven police spokesman Lt. David Emerman said Monday said the department has no further comment except that it’s investigating.
