East Haven Police K9s Get Their Memorial, Unveiled In Ceremony
The 18 EHPD K9 officers, 3 of whom are on the road with their partners currently, are "born to love, trained to serve, loyal to the end."

EAST HAVEN, CT — The long-awaited new memorial that honors East Haven Police Department K9s who've passed was donated to the department and the town by East Haven Memorial Funeral Home co-owners Joseph Deko and James Integlia.
Tuesday, after many months of delays, largely pandemic-related, the four-legged officers who served the town and its people, working hard every day to keep folks safe, were memorialized.
"It was an honor to be able to memorialize our past and present K-9’s today at the unveiling ceremony earlier today," East Haven police wrote on Facebook.

Police K9 Prayer
I will lay down my life for you
and expect nothing but love in return.
I protect my officer with my life,
and would gladly take a bullet in his place.
I am sent in to find lost children
and fugitives on the run.
I find drugs and weapons and even bombs.
I am the first sent in
and sometimes the last to leave.
I am the nose and ears of my officer.
I will protect and serve him.
I would die for him and for you.
I only ask for compassion and a kind word.
