East Haven Rotary Presents 10 Learning Robots

From East Haven Rotary Club: East Haven Rotary Club President Rich Anania and several Rotarians will be presenting the Club’s donation of 10 Learning Robots to Superintendent Erica Forti and the EH Board of Education at the next BOE meeting, this coming Tuesday June 19th , 7 pm in the East Haven High School Board Room on 35 Wheelbarrow Lane.

The robots, “Dash & Dot”, are part of the Robotics Learning program created for children 6 years and up by Wonder Workshop, Inc. Dash is a real robot, charged and ready to play out of the box; responding to voice, navigating objects, dancing, and singing.Dot, is a clever little robot with multiple sensors and a quirky personality that powers the Do-It-Yourself projects in the new Dot Creativity Kit. Kids will learn about robotics and develop fundamental coding and problem-solving skills while having fun. Dot’s projects range from crafting and active play to storytelling and construction.

The Rotary Club has purchased 10 of these learning tools at the cost of $375 each and will be making this presentation to the Board of Education at their upcoming meeting. The robotics are expected to be used in the early elementary classes throughout the school system. Previously the club has donated dictionaries to the East Haven school system for the last several years. The Rotary Club of East Haven was organized on March 3, 1939. The club has remained dedicated and committed to improving our community and the citizens of East Haven. Through its annual scholarship program and Student of the Month, the club recognizes and encourages achievement of high school students. Amber Alert Identification, Clothe the Children and annual distribution of Thanksgiving dinners are just some of its other free services that are offered through the member’s volunteer activities.
