Updated: Schools Have 158 Cases Overall, 169 Now In Quarantine

With a predicted dramatic post-holiday spike in positive COVID-19 cases, there are now nearly 170 students and teachers in quarantine.

EAST HAVEN, CT — With a COVID-19 positivity rate of more than 5 percent, East Haven Public Schools currently have 169 students and educators in quarantine. Case numbers have increased significantly after the holiday break, as predicted by East Shore District Health director Michael Pascucilla.

According to data provided by the school district, in this week alone, with Monday as a holiday, 11 new cases were reported.

As of late Wednesday, at the high school, 36 are in quarantine, 19 are at home from Overbrook, 52 from Tuttle are in quarantine, 15 from Momauguin, 2 from the adult ed program, 20 from the middle school and 25 from EHA are at home.

Since the beginning of the school year, there have been 158 cases, 48 of which are teachers or staff members.
