In East Haven, A Solemn 9/11 Remembrance: 'We'll Never Forget'
We honor the memory of thousands lost and the "courage of those who put themselves in harm's way to save lives," Mayor Joe Carfora said.
EAST HAVEN, CT — East Haven will never forget.
Friday morning, under a clear blue sky, not unlike the clear blue sky that morning 19 years ago, Mayor Joseph A Carfora, Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli, firefighters and other first responders, elected officials and residents gathered, at a distance and wearing masks, to honor those whose lives were stolen on Sept. 11, 2001, and those who lost their lives in the aftermath.
"This morning we gathered to remember the thousands of lives we lost on 9-11-2001. We also want to honor the courage of those who put themselves in harm’s way to save many people they never met without any hesitation," Carfora said. "True bravery at its best. Let’s offer our prayers to all those whose lives were affected and let’s take a moment to remember all those that are precious to us."
