East Haven Sports Star Earns Accolades

MANSFIELD, Mass. - Senior Destiney Coward (East Haven, Conn.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women's outdoor track and field squad has been named NE10 Field Athlete of the Week for her performance in last week's meet for the Owls.

Coward competed at the Yale Springtime Invitational where she took first place in the shot put and hammer throw events. The shot put she threw a 13.56 meter throw and in the hammer throw she threw a 65.40-meter throw, which is a NCAA Division II automatic qualifying marker.
