East Haven Town Council Approves Funds For Pool Repairs

The pool temperature had been dropping recently.

EAST HAVEN, CT – The Town Council recently authorized spending $26,000 to replace the broken down heating system at the town pool located at 200 Tyler Street. The pool should be back open to swimmers early in 2018.

Sal Brancati, director of Economic Development, said that residents who use the pool – both seniors and children who swim in a kids’ program - say the ideal water temperature is 85 degrees. A few weeks ago, swimmers and others noticed that the temperature in the pool was dropping.

Brancati said there have been many repairs done to the existing system, but that it was originally bought back in 1972.

The new furnace in the pool will be completed and the pool should be back and ready for use by the first or second week in January, Brancati told councilmen.
