EAST HAVEN, CT — An East Haven family has suffered tragedy after tragedy.
Deann Uberti's 7-year-old daughter, Ariana, was raped and murdered in 2009. Two years later, her longtime boyfriend, Jorge, was killed in a motorcycle crash.
Now, her daughter, 14-year-old Isabella, is desperately ill and the family needs help.

Family friend Jessica Carson started a GoFundMe campaign for the family. She said on Jan. 29, Isabella, who goes by Bella, was admitted to an intensive care unit with upper respiratory failure and anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody vasculitis, an autoimmune disease that causes blood vessels to swell.
"Bella has been a healthy active happy child all her life with no signs of any underlying conditions," Carson wrote.

Bella recovered from the upper respiratory failure, but is still struggling with anemia and kidney functions, according to Carson.
"Bella started dialysis treatments and will most likely need them for the foreseeable future," she wrote.

Deann, who has another daughter, Destiney, has been by Bella's side "fighting this uphill battle," Carson wrote, adding Deann's job does not offer health insurance and her daughter doesn't qualify for state assistance.
"Your generosity will support Bella’s outpatient care," Carson wrote. " It will enable her to continue treatment and medications while Deann continues to search for affordable health care plans for when Bella is released from the hospital."
"This family has already experienced so much tragedy ... Deann is not one to ask for help, so I am acting on her behalf for this one, every little bit will help this incredible family."
