EAST HAVEN, CT — The East Haven Animal Shelter's May 31 fundraiser to help care for injured and abandoned animals is a quarter auction.

In a quarter auction, the fundraising event combines elements of an auction and raffle, using quarters for bidding. Participants bid on items by placing quarters into a designated bowl for each item they wish to bid on, then raise a paddle to indicate their bid. A winning number is drawn, and if the number matches a paddle being held up, that participant wins the item.
