LETTER: East Haven Democrats Lead Approval Of Funds For Projects

East Haven Democratic Town Chairman Marc Conte Sr. wrote a letter to the editor about the town's infrastructure.

Letter to the editor,

The East Haven Board of Finance approved a 3 million dollar bonding package on Wednesday night. The Democratic controlled board unanimously voted in favor of the measure. As a member of The Board of Finance and Chairman of the Democratic Party I am glad to see the administration has responded to the Democrats calling for Town wide repairs to infrastructure and other overdue neglected projects. Last Oct Mayor Maturo floated a 2.5 million appropriation for repairs and capital improvements before the election. The timing was beyond coincidental and everybody knew it.

Although Maturo may be trying to hedge his bet for the next election, for the betterment of the Town, the board felt the measure needed to be passed. Projects include long overdue school safety measures, long overdue road repairs, enhancements to the 911 system, communication capabilities between Fire and Police and a host of improvements to enhance quality of life for the residents of East Haven. The Democratic Party will always put the citizens safety and quality of life first.
