Looking Far Beyond Brutal Winter, Cops Say Beach Season Is Almost Here, Along With Beach Parking Rules
For beach district residents, condos/complexes excluded, the program allows registered vehicles to park on "Permit Parking Only" streets.

EAST HAVEN, CT—Think spring? How about summer? It's not too early, right?
The East Haven Police Department shared everything folks need to know about 2026 Beach Area Parking Permits for East Haven residents.
"To avoid delays once the season is underway, we strongly encourage residents to apply early," police said.

Here’s what you need to know:
Beach District Residents

If you live in the beach district (condos and apartment complexes excluded), the Residential E -Permit (Beach District) permit allows your registered vehicle to park on streets marked “Permit Parking Only” within the beach district.

Non-Beach District & Condo/Apartment Residents
If you live in East Haven outside the beach district, or live in a condo or apartment complex within the beach district, please apply for the Residential E-Permit (Non Beach District) permit. This permit allows your registered vehicle to park on any beach area street designated as Permit Parking Only.
Other important stuff to know:
• All permits are electronic only—nothing to print or display
• Your license plate is registered in the system
• Officers verify permits by scanning license plates
• Up to 3 vehicles per household (additional vehicles can be requested)
• Approval may take up to 72 hours, and parking is not permitted until approval is complete.
• Work/take-home vehicles not registered to your residential address will be approved.
Additional resident parking is also available in both town-owned Coe Avenue parking lots.
