EAST HAVEN, CT — A man was taken into custody Friday night after he fired multiple shots in an East Haven neighborhood and prompted police to issue a shelter-in-place order for nearby residents.
East Haven police responded to the 20 block of Charnes Drive shortly after 11:30 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired. When police arrived, they set up a perimeter around a home at 27 Charnes Dr. as the man — later identified as 41-year-old Michael Farino — fired several series of gunshots from behind the house.
After a brief standoff, telephone contact was made with Farino by Sgt. Molly Perry, who persuaded him to exit his residence slowly with his hands up, police said. Farino was taken into custody without further incident and was transported to the East Haven Police Department for processing, police said.
