Man Charged With Burglary In the Area Where a Human Torso Was Found: New Haven Police
New Haven police stress that the man who was charged is "not directly linked" to the death of a homeless man whose limbs have been found.

And the already bizarre plot involving the discovery of limbs and a human torso in downtown New Haven continues to thicken as police said Friday they made an arrest, but the arrest doesn’t solve the mystery over the appearance of the limbs and torso.
Police say they have arrested David Andaz, 46, for third-degree burglary in theft of utility services at the vacant former Salvation Army property located at 301 George Street.
But police stress that Andaz is “not directly linked” to the death of Ray Roberson – a 54-year-old homeless man from New Haven, whose arms and legs were found in New Haven on July 15.

A human torso was found in New Haven on Crown Street Thursday but that has not yet been matched to Roberson.
“Officers and Detectives – acting on information related to the 15 July human remains case, conducted a search of the (former Salvation Army) property for clues. It had been said that the victim, Ray Roberson may have visited or stayed there,” said Police spokesman David Hartman.

“Once there, Detectives found Andaz inside. Surprisingly, the vacant building had electrical service. Pollack was arrested. He was also charged with violating his parole. He is being held on a $5,000 bond,” added Hartman.
Andaz has not been charged, nor is he being held in relation to the Roberson case, police said.

There have been several people interviewed regarding the Roberson case, police said. Andaz was one of those people. The investigation into the human remains cases is moving forward, police.
“There are a great amount of resources being devoted to solving it,” police said.
At the George Street and Crown Street buildings, there is a significant effort underway to collect and preserve evidence, Hartman said.
“The New Haven Police Department is grateful for the valuable assistance provided by Connecticut State Police Troopers and their cadaver dogs, troopers and supervisors from the Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Division, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department, death investigators at the office of the Chief State’s Medical Examiner and the staff at the State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection – Division of Scientific Services,” Hartman said.
“Investigators appreciate the information that has been provided by the public – especially from those who are homeless in our community. There is nothing that is being overlooked. We urge those with any information related to these cases to come forward,” Hartman said.
