“Hey how’s I going?” “Wow you look great!” “That hairstyle is a great look!” “Hey what are you doing later?” “Maybe we can get a bite to eat later>” “Maybe a few drinks later” and my favorite… “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” All of these comments are the introduction to sexual harassment in the work place. After you object, you get the “Please don’t say anything”, you’ll destroy my career” “what will my wife and kids say?” Sometimes it can be a harsh reaction like your job being threatened or even worse, you lose your job. It happens every day in the United States and it even happens in East Haven

Remember a few months ago with the start of the #METOO movement how many husbands and boyfriends of East Haven rapidly move the remote channel up key, so we can avoid any channel reporting the biggest women’s movement since NOW. Guess what? We are not going away because currently, in this day and age of social media, iPhones and recording devices are everywhere. If you stray, you run the high probability that you’re going to get caught. No one is immune and not even the Mayor of East Haven.

In Carbone v Maturo, Mayor Joseph Maturo has a court date on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 9:15am at the New Haven Superior Court. His appearance in front of a judge is long overdue and as he reads this letter I hope he’s sweating, scared and full of fear. Just maybe he will experience what millions of women have experienced in the work place when a man comes up and makes unwanted advances towards them and then when they are rejected, they retaliate. We all know the real Joe Maturo, as we witnessed the day that four officers were arrested, and he made the insensitive comments to the Latino Community of East Haven. When asked what he was going to do for the Latino Community the esteemed East Haven leader said “He might just go have some tacos.” The most painful display was Mayor Maturo trying to back-pedal out of his own words. Carbone’s lawyer must be hoping for the opportunity for cross-examination with “Taco Joe” which may make the trial over by days end.

The worst sexual harasser is the serial sexual harasser. He’s the guy who thinks that this is a game of hearts and minds and he can just move from victim to victim with impunity. The power is the euphoria they crave along with the arrogance, that a mere look they give you is a favor towards you. Do you know Joe Maturo?

We have a message for Mayor Maturo and others in East Haven Town Government. Just because a file is closed, doesn’t mean people don’t know. Just because it was common practice to be swept under the rug, our friends in the Capitol will lift the statute of limitations soon, and when they do, the rats under the light will try to scurry for cover. There is also discovery phase during the proceedings. As each witness comes forward to testify, that should make many in the Joe Maturo Administration from Town Hall to Public Works to the Fire and Police Department – Shake to the Core!

The real victims will be the East Haven Taxpayers once again.
