Maturo Updates Residents on Possible Hermine Impacts
The beach will be open on Labor Day, the Mayor said.

Shared by the Officer of Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr.
Post-Tropical Cyclone Hermine remains well to the south and east of Long Island as it begins to turn and move slowly North and even a little West during today into tomorrow. Although East Haven technically remains under a Tropical Storm Warning most of the sustained Tropical Storm force winds and rain should remain to our east and even more predominately on Eastern Long Island.
However with that said, off shore winds will still be pushing waters into Long Island Sound and our area may experience minor to slightly moderate flooding at the immediate shoreline during periods of high tide. The first of which will occur early this afternoon. Shoreline residents should remain vigilant and may want to move cars and personal belongings away from areas that normally flood during periods of very high lunar tides.

High Tides Periods for our area: Mon-12.45 pm to 3.15 pm Tue: 1am to 3 am Tue: 1.30pm to 3.30 pm
The Mayor's Office and our Emergency Services Department remain ready in the event the storm makes any significant changes closer to our shoreline. Although it appears not to be an ideal beach day, the beach remains open; however swimmers should be aware that significant rip currents are possible and swimming should be discouraged.
