Mayor: Pool Condition Is Unacceptable, Calls Health Officials
Mayor Carfora says the town pool has been neglected, is in unacceptable condition and he personally called the heath department about it.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Mayor Joseph A. Carfora is taking his messages straight to the community with his 'you see it first' press releases posted to Facebook.
In the latest from Monday afternoon, Carfora says that as he "prepares his initial report to East Haven taxpayers on town finances, legal matters, town buildings, public works equipment, and athletic fields, immediate concerns about the condition of the town pool arose."
Carfora said that as part of a "town wide evaluation" of all East Haven equipment, buildings and athletic fields, his tour included the pool, which he said needs "immediate attention."

"Based on my conversations with East Shore, I will be evaluating our pool facility with them Monday, January 6, 2020 to further assess this situation. The circumstances that I witnessed are, simply put, unacceptable. Based on my initial evaluation, it is clear to me that this facility has been neglected for years. I will evaluate the overall condition of the pool with town staff and the East Shore officials before making further comment."
Patch has sent an email to Carfora requesting additional information.
According to the town's website, the pool located in the Old East Haven High School on Tyler Street, can be booked for parties and features public swimming and water activities. It's not clear if the pool is now open or closed.
