MC From The Bench: East Haven Shuts out Xavier 17-0

If you listened hard Friday night you would have heard a voice coming the home side stands. No it wasn’t “if you build it he will come” (Field of Dreams) it was a voice of old school football. As I was standing on the East Haven sideline Friday night during their game vs. Xavier I could hear a voice above all the others at certain times during the game. I heard him yell, “Let’s go boys!” before the opening kickoff. Then when the Easties recovered a fumble I heard “That’s how we hit!” and when the Yellowjackets shot themselves in the foot inside the Xavier 30 with penalties the voice was yelling, “Don’t beat yourselves!”

In the second half the Easties recovered a fumble and drove in for a touchdown. Then a muffed punt by Xavier and another East Haven touchdown and the voice in the stands yelled, “This is how we play football!” And when the game was over and the Easties had won 17-0 the players gathered together taking a knee in front of Coach Scott Benoit. Then from behind Benoit I heard the voice say, “Great job Men!” and when I looked to see who it was there was no one behind Coach Benoit. I then realized whom the voice was, Legendary Coach Frank Crisafi who has passed away recently and whom the East Haven field is named after. He was there, he was watching and he was proud!

I agree… Great Game Men!
