Memorial Day: East Haven Honors Those Who Made The Ultimate Sacrifice
The town and Veteran's Council partnered to honor war dead on Monday, and also celebrate American Post Legion 89's 100th anniversary.

EAST HAVEN, CT — On May 30, Memorial Day, the East Haven Veteran’s Council and the town will honor all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
East Haven will continue its tradition of honoring the war dead with reflective ceremonies. And this year, will celebrate American Post Legion 89's 100th anniversary.
The ceremonies and remembrances will begin with an 11:40 a.m. procession from American Legion Post 89 on Thompson Avenue to the East Haven Green, arriving at noon.

Before the procession's arrival at the Green, the East Haven High School band will perform "patriotic music" starting at 11:45 a.m.
All East Haven veterans and town officials are invited to participate in the procession. Those who walk in the procession are asked to arrive at Post 89 no later than 11:30 a.m.

The ceremony will begin at the gazebo on the Town Green with remarks from guests including Wendy Bellmore who will present 2022-2023 Honored Veteran, Ed Jackowicz Jr.
At the conclusion of the remarks, the ceremony will move to the war memorial for the placing of the wreaths, rifle salute, Taps, and rendition of the Hallelujah Veteran's Version, performed by Joe Silva.
