Michael Anthony Simiola of East Haven obituary: Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven

Michael Anthony Simiola, 77 of East Haven passed away September 7, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 11, 1948 in New Haven to Michael and Maria (Frisketti) Simiola. Michael is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Toni-Ann (Casanova) Simiola and his daughter, Shannon Casanova (Tim Dagradi) of East Haven along with one granddaughter, Calliope-Ann Brashears and a nephew, Michael Anthony Casanova (Jordan Rachel Lee) of Australia.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Theresa Simiola.
Michael was a graduate of East Haven High School. He was a talented musician that played the drums in the New Haven area as well as California. He loved playing the drums but could pick up almost any instrument and play it. He served in the Army overseas during the war as a cook, a skill turned into an apprenticeship with local chefs, which turned into a lifetime career. He cooked many holiday meals for family and friends.

He enjoyed fresh and saltwater fishing, and antiques and art. He briefly owned an antique shop in New Haven, Parish Antiques, named after his favorite artist, Maxfield Parish. His love of art and antiques could be seen throughout the house. Later in life he golfed and could often be spotted snuggled with his granddaughter watching SpongeBob.

Family will receive friends on Thursday September 11, 2025 from 10 AM until 12 PM (NOON) in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. His funeral procession will then leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a graveside service with US Army Honors at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford.
