Need Beer? Many Liquor Stores Open Today

The governor signed into law the bill that allows Sunday liquor sales, and many East Haven stores say they will be open this weekend.

A new law allowing businesses to , and on Monday holidays, goes into effect today.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy signed into law on Thursday a bill amending Connecticut’s Blue Laws, giving permittees the option of selling liquor and beer from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

The law also allows stores the option of selling on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day, and on Mondays following a Christmas or New Year's Day holiday that falls on a Sunday.

Malloy signed the bill into law on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Enfield Town Hall. Now, the only state left to prohibit Sunday liquor sales will be Indiana.
