The new contract signed by the mayor met the union's approval.

A new Public Safety Dispatchers Union contract signed by Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr. on Monday is advantageous to dispatchers in terms of wages, hours and benefits, the New Haven Register reports.

Six new civilian dispatchers were added to the existing team of four.

According to the paper, the new employees will collect a base salary for a probationary period of 180 days with raises occurring on a sliding scale each year. The raises will cap once they reach the amount senior dispatchers currently make. Veteran employees will get annual percentage increases.
