While Nick performed the crowd clapped along and when it was over he received strong reviews from the judges.
Harry Connick Jr. said Fradiani has a lot of experience and did a “nice job.”
Keith Urban also said Nick did a “nice job,” and Jennifer Lopez challenged him to pick a song that truly shows off his vocal prowess.
As he walked off the stage he received hugs from fellow contestants.
Fradiani wrote on his Facebook page, which almost has 15,000 likes, that the theme for tonight’s episode was “Back to the Beginning!”
“We will be playing songs from our first audition. I am more than excited to sing one of my all time favorite songs “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel. I also have to credit Jeffrey Gaines who covered this song so well back in 2001... Thank you everyone who has voted and supported me so far. I can’t thank you all enough,” Fradiani wrote on social media.
Earlier this month Nick wrote “the support has been overwhelming.”
“Thank you so much to everyone for voting me through, and for voting for me ... I really hope I can make it through to the Top 12. This experience on American Idol has truly been life changing … Love you all!”
Last week, Fradiani sang Stevie Wonders “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours.” He received praise from celebrity judges Harry Connick Jr., Keith Urban, and Jennifer Lopez.
This isn’t Fradiani’s first time at the reality TV rodeo. He auditioned for America’s Got Talent last year with his Milford band, Beach Avenue, bandmates, performing original songs.
His band was eliminated at the beginning of the competition but that didn’t dampen Fradiani’s spirits — he’s back in the reality TV game again, this time going solo on American Idol.
