Obituary: Alfred “Fred” Souza 96, of East Haven
A Navy WWII veteran, he was a 40-year Pratt & Whitney machinist; quiet, humble and dapper, though he was Mass. native, he loved the Yankees.

Alfred “Fred” Souza 96, or East Haven formerly of Taunton Massachusetts died peacefully at the USVA Hospital in West Haven on June 2, 2022. Fred proudly served in the United States Navy for four years during WWII. After an honorable discharge, Fred went to work for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft as a machinist for nearly 40 years. Fred was a quiet, but humble man who will mostly be remembered for his dapper attire. Even though Fred’s roots were from MA, he loved the New York Yankees and attended many Yankee games.

Mr. Souza is survived by his loving daughter Lorna, of East Haven, a son Alfred “Butchie” Souza Jr. of Taunton MA, and daughter Beverly Forbes of Mississippi; 6 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son James Souza, his brothers Ernest and Arthur Souza and his son-in-law George Forbes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on SATURDAY June 10, 2023 at 10AM at St. Francis Church- Ferry St New Haven. Burial will be held privately at the State of Connecticut Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, CT. East Haven Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with Mr. Souza’s care.
