Obituary: Alice Grace (Johnson) Marino, 94, of East Haven
She and her husband of 71 years loved time with family, animals, boating, traveling, and East Haven parades, and EHHS band performances.

Alice Grace (Johnson) Marino, a longtime resident of East Haven, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2022, with her beloved and devoted husband of 71 years, Anthony Marino, by her side. She was born December 15, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Norwegian immigrants, Gustave and Signe (Holmquist) Johnson. She is predeceased by her sisters, Constance Hughes and Gloria LeBlanc and nieces, Georgette Sessa and Marilyn Braunstein. Surviving nieces, are Suzanne Miranda of Tempe, AZ, Laura Hunt of Johns Creek, GA, and Carol Shimer of Anthem, AZ. Even though they had no children of their own, Alice is lovingly survived by Tony’s children, Marge Shaffer of Savannah, GA and Joe Marino and his wife, Susan of Dunlap, IL; grandchildren Steve Shaffer and wife Kim Shaffer; Tina Davidson and husband Rick Davidson; great-grandchildren Brock Shaffer, Chase Shaffer, Sophia Marino, Isabella Marino and Eli Marino; Justin Davidson and Mandy Davidson.
She and Tony were married in Greenwich, CT in 1951 and moved to East Haven to build their dream home. Together they loved animals, boating, traveling, playing cards, and especially spending time with family for holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries. She also had a love of attending East Haven parades and watching the award-winning high school band perform.
