Obituary: David J. Marcati Sr. (Porto Funeral Homes)
Porto Funeral Homes (East Haven/West Haven)

David J. Marcati Sr. passed away on March 9, 2026, surrounded by family, at the age of 86, after a stoic and long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. The beloved husband of the late Carolyn L. Marcati (Mattei) for fifty-two years, David was fiercely dedicated to his three children, Anita Marcati, Laura Zamore (Leonard Zamore), and David J. Marcati Jr., his granddaughter, Allison Beaulieu (Luke Carpenter), and his grandson, Christopher Beaulieu (Alexis Young). David’s career began as a New Haven Police Officer, where he described, “walking the beat” for just one year, served eight years on the Board of Finance for the Town of North Haven, and retired as a Vice President of Chubb Life. David loved music. He played the accordion and piano since childhood, attended the University of Hartford’s performing arts conservatory, Hartt School, in West Hartford, Connecticut, and would often be brought to tears by the songs he loved. He spent his time boating, golfing, woodworking, and adored his family’s pets. He was humble, kind, and soft-spoken. David’s family would like to express their deep and heartfelt support to those caring for someone with Parkinson’s, after caring for and watching their loved one work tirelessly for twenty-seven years to continue living his life.
Services and burial are private. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org. Arrangements are in care of the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven. Sign David's guest book online at www.portofuneralhomes.net.
