Obituary: Edward M. “Eddie” Bernard, 86, of East Haven
After serving his country faithfully during the Korean Conflict as a U.S. Marine, he was a bricklayer for Local 1 before retiring.

Edward M. “Eddie” Bernard 86, of East Haven beloved husband of Mary Genovese Bernard passed away on September 29, 2021 in the Gladeview Healthcare Center of Old Saybrook. Loving father of Maryann Fernicola of Branford and Michael L. (Lori) Bernard of Clinton. Eddie is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Jean Chojnacki. Eddie was born in Camden, NJ on January 22, 1935 son of the late Michael and Maryann Bernard.
Prior to his retirement, Eddie was a bricklayer for Local 1. He served his country faithfully during the Korean Conflict as a United States Marine.

His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80) East Haven THURSDAY morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in St. Bernadette Church at 11:00. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Family and friends may call THURSDAY morning from 8:30 to 10:30.
