Obituary: ​Edwin Bates, 82, of East Haven

Edwin Bates 82 of East Haven passed away peacefully on July 7, 2018 at CT Hospice in Branford. He was born March 16, 1936 in New Haven to Maurice Bates and Frances (Rowland) Bates. Edwin is survived by his two loving sons, Anthony Bates of Wallingford and Ronald Bates of East Haven along with three grandchildren, Justin Bates, Cecilia Bates and Sophia Bates. Edwin is also survived by his brother, Robert Bates (Marilyn) of West Haven.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Nancy (Cucurello) Bates (2016). Edwin was a proud member of St. Clare Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was member of Knights of Columbus. He was an avid UCONN women’s basketball fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Family will receive friends from 9 – 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven CT. Funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home at 10:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
