Obituary: Elizabeth “Betty” Martin Gambardella, 90, of East Haven
Betty was a member of the St. Anthony's School PTO, St. Vincent dePaul Ladies Guild and the East Haven Senior Center.

Elizabeth “Betty” Martin Gambardella, 90, of East Haven passed away peacefully August 18, 2018 in the St. Raphael Campus surrounded by her loving family. Wife of the late Michael Gambardella. Beloved mother of Mary Russo of North Haven, Susan (Edward) Mattei and Michael (Laura) Gambardella all of East Haven. Loving grandmother of Theresa (William) Longobardi, Marissa (David) Malone, Edward (Stephanie) Mattei, Jr. and the late Michael Russo. Cherished great grandmother of Michael and Shyler Longobardi, Vincent and Olivia Mattei. and David and Emily Malone.
Betty was born in Shenandoah, PA on January 29, 1928 a daughter of the late John and Mary Dubrachak Martin. She was predeceased by sisters, Annie Demanchick and Mary Yedynak and brothers, John, Stephen and Michael Martin and a son-in-law George Russo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Prior to her retirement Betty worked for the Gambardella Brothers Fish Market.

Betty was a member of the St. Anthony's School PTO, St. Vincent dePaul Ladies Guild and the East Haven Senior Center. She loved to play Church Bingo. There is a special brick in her honor at the St. Vincent dePaul Church “Peace Garden” recognizing her as a “Praying Lady”.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Saturday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Vincent dePaul Church at 10:00. Interment will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call FRIDAY from 5:00-8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to ACES (in honor of her late grandson Michael Russo), 31 Temple St., North Haven, CT 06473.
