Obituary: Ellen Anderson, 75, of East Haven
A self-employed seamstress and "mother to many," she often opened her home to her children's friends for a place to live in times of need.
Ellen Anderson, 75, of East Haven passed away on March 24, 2022 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Loving mother of Michael J. Anderson and Matthew (Carmella) Anderson both of East Haven and Cynthia (Vincent Ruggiero) Anderson of West Haven. Grandmother of Michael and Laura Anderson. Ellen was born in Bethel, ME on April 1, 1946 daughter of the late Lila Brown.
Ellen touched many lives through her tireless commitment and dedication to the St. Rose/St. Francis community. Even now 35+ years after her own children have moved on from St. Rose, her love for the parish was very strong. She opened her home to many of her children’s friends for a place to live in times of need, and continued that trend with her grandson’s friends. “Mrs. A” to many and “G” to the younger crowd, Ellen was a mother figure to many. Prior to her retirement, Ellen was a self-employed seamstress.

Family and friends are invited to go DIRECTLY to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. Francis Church TUESDAY morning at 11:00. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call at the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven MONDAY from 5pm to 8pm.
