Obituary: Ernest M. Spinelli, 82

After his military career he was a successful businessman, owning Biological Specialties.

Ernest M. Spinelli, of East Haven, died peacefully, with his children by his side on Wednesday August 30, 2017 in Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Ernie was born in McKeesport, PA July 23, 1935, son of the late Etocleo and Rafaella Gallo Spinelli. He served in the U. S. Army for many years, including serving in Vietnam. He retired from the U. S. Army National Guard as a Warrant Officer in 1995.

After his military career he was a successful businessman, owning Biological Specialties (B. S. C.) in Pennsylvania. Ernie enjoyed football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. His family would like to thank the staff at Mariners Point for the compassionate care shown to Ernie during his last years. He is survived by his wife, Lois Spinelli of PA; his children, Mario Spinelli (Alison) of Simsbury, Michele Spinelli (Chris Currier) of Newburyport, MA, and Denise White (James Waldeck) of Branford; his step-children, Aileen (Jeff) Widdoss and Thomas (Sandy) Olsen both of PA; his grandchildren, Tina, Trisha, Donny, Taylor, Rebecca, Cameron and Laurel and his great-grandchildren, Olivia, Audrey, Jacob and Julia.

He was predeceased by his 11 brothers and sisters.Visiting hours will be Friday, September 1, from 4:00- 6:30 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, with a prayer service at 6:30 and military honors to follow.
