Obituary: Florence DePetto Polaski, 94, of East Haven
Married to her surviving husband for 74 years, Florence, an excellent cook who loved knitting, music and Broadway shows, had a huge heart.
Florence DePetto Polaski, 94, of East Haven, entered into eternal life on December 25, 2021 in Montowese Health and Rehab Center. She was born to a large family on March 20, 1927, the daughter of the late Peter and Antoinette DePetto. Florence was married to her devoted, surviving husband, Anthony J. Polaski, for over 74 years. She is predeceased by her son, Robert A. Polaski, a brother, Anthony Saffioti, and sisters Julia Conti, Carmel Bimonte, Susan Borsella, Josephine Sobol, and Eleanor Varrecchio.
Florence enjoyed a long, meaningful life, raising three children, and was entirely dedicated to her family and friends. She had a huge heart, and was a selfless giver.

Along with her prolific role as a wife and mother, she held many jobs through the years. Most notably, she was employed by Winchester’s of New Haven, Coca-Cola, and Sears Roebuck and Co. of Hamden where she continued to form special relationships with several friends and acquaintances along the way.
Florence also had many hobbies. She was an excellent cook, and her friends and family will never forget the countless holidays and family events that she would host at her home. Around Christmas, she would also enjoy putting together trays of food, cookies, and other treats for her friends and neighbors. Florence also loved to craft things by hand, knit, and create blankets, scarves, and other small gifts for those she loved. She thoroughly enjoyed music, Broadway shows, and singer Johnny Mathis.

She also was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii parish of East Haven, and those of her parish community were her extended family. She enjoyed church activities, was an excellent dancer along with her husband, and was always considered the life of the party wherever she would go.
To say that Florence touched many lives along life’s journey is a vast understatement. She is and will always be dearly remembered in the hearts of all who loved her, especially her surviving family: her loving husband Anthony J. Polaski, her daughter Marianne U. Williams, her son David J. Polaski, and four grandchildren: Andrea, Alisa, Kristina, and Dominic. Two great-grandchildren, along with several other relatives survive as well, especially her devoted nieces Cathy Borsella and Sylvia.Arrangements are in care of the PORTO FUNERAL HOME 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80) East Haven and will be held privately amongst members of the immediate family only, and they warmly thank friends and relatives for all of their love and support. The family asks all to keep them in their prayers during these difficult times.
