Obituary: ​Frances R. DeFrancesco, of East Haven

She was a lifelong resident of Massachusetts Avenue in East Haven where she would pride herself on the beauty and upkeep of her home.

Frances R. DeFrancesco of East Haven died Tuesday October 16, 2018 at her home. She was the wife of the late James “Spud” DeFrancesco. Frances was born in New Haven on March 10, 1921, daughter of the late Peter and Mary Consiglio DiGuiseppe. She worked as an assembler for A. C. Gilbert’s and Echlin Manufacturing. She also worked for Lucibello’s Pastry Shop.

Frances was a lifelong resident of Massachusetts Avenue in East Haven where she would pride herself on the beauty and upkeep of her cherished home. She would eventually “retire” to the Village at Mariner’s Point where she spent her final years making new friends and engaging in bingo and many other activities that she enjoyed.

She was an avid UConn Women’s Basketball fan and New York Yankee fan. Her family would like to extend many thanks to the Village staff and Athena Hospice for their excellent care during her final days. Frances is survived by her children, Dave (Lore) DeFrancesco of Branford, and Sal (Jane) DeFrancesco of East Haven; her grandchildren, Danielle, Jennifer and Jackie; her brother Lou DiGuiseppe of New Haven; and her sisters, Ann Faggio of New Haven and Connie Lucibello of Wallingford.

She was predeceased by a sister Rose Saponaro and her brothers, James, Dee, and Carl DiGuiseppe. Her funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, Saturday morning at 10:00 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, Branford, at 10:30.
