Obituary: Frank W. Higgins Jr. of East Haven, formerly Branford

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a conductor for Metro North Railroad for 48 years, retiring in 2013.

Frank William Higgins Jr. of East Haven, formerly of Branford passed away on Friday September 24 at Meadow Mills Assisted Living and Memory Care in Hamden. He was the father of Frank Nicholas Higgins (wife Melanie) of Branford. He was the brother of Jean Bruno of West Haven and Jackie Vitale of East Haven. He was the grandfather of Sherisse Higgins of East Haven, and Frank, Donnie, and Antoinette Higgins, all of Branford. He is also survived by his former wife Donna Capella of East Haven. He was predeceased by his sisters Norma Bruno and Evelyn Lawler.

Frank was born in New Haven on June 10, 1943, a son of Frank and Clara Koob Higgins. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a conductor for Metro North Railroad for 48 years, retiring in 2013.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford. Burial will be private.
