Obituary: Gabriel Bizzario (Porto Funeral Homes)

Gabriel Bizzario, 82, of North Haven, beloved life partner of Jean Caneschi, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026 surrounded by his family at his home. Loving father of James (Stacy) Bizzario of Wallingford and John (Leslie) Bizzario of Durham. Grandfather of Marissa, Michael, Olivia, Anthony and Isabella Bizzario. Great-grandfather of Max Bizzario. Brother of Joanne (Sam) Tondalo of East Haven, Dolores (Gary) Podany of Wallingford, Michael (Josephine) Bizzario of East Haven, Frank Bizzario of Hamden and the late Louise DeVito, James “Buzz” Bizzario Jr., Alex Bizzario and Salvatore Lettieri. Gabe was born in New Haven on January 12, 1944 son of the late James and Carmel Mele Bizzario. Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was a supervisor for Brockway-Smith. Gabe was an avid fan of the N.Y. Giants and UCONN Women’s Basketball Team.

His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven THURSDAY morning, October 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
